Networks, Immunity, and Vaccination, oh my!

You may remember that I exhibited last year at Science Rendezvous, at University of Toronto, as part of their SciArt Gallery. I had a blast! It was so fun meeting loads of the public, and talking about my work, and finding new people to geek out with about science and immunology, it was awesome. I also met a load of other fascinating sciartists and enjoyed their art. So, I am excited about exhibiting again this year, on May 11th, in a slightly new venue.

You might already know about this, but if not, Science Rendezvous is a fun, familty-friendly day out with lots of STEAM-related activities and exhibitions, including a Science Fair, a Science Chase (a science experiment obstacle course, how cool is that), something called SR Hacks (a coding and engineering competition), and, of course, the SciArt Gallery - which is where you'll find me!

Whenever I do an exhibition or a show, I try to have new and fresh work. This year, I’m hoping to share the collaboration I did with Carolina Reis last year (you can read about it in the blog I wrote), along with the artisti writeup about the piece, called IMMUNITY, and the story of how it came about. Alongside the art piece, I made a series of mixed media jewellery. I hope that mahy will see it and experience it. If you miss it next Saturday, it will take up residence in the windows along Roncevalles at the Jewel Envy Studio for a while.

Visit Dundas, see one of my pieces in person!

I’m so excited to share with you that one of my pieces will be on view at the Carnegie Gallery in Dundas in October!

You might remember my “Spillage” ring that I shared a while ago. I like to apply for juried exhibitions, especially other places. I’m always eager to share my work, and it’s always an honour to me to be accepted. The Carnegie Gallery only does an open juried exhibition once every two years, and this year, I put forward two pieces, and they accepted my “Spillage” ring for this year’s exhibition. Yay!

The exhibition runs from October 6th - November 5th 2023. The opening reception is October 6th, hope to see you there, and keep your fingers crossed that I win an award !

I saw, I did, now it's over, and on to the next thing!

I’ve been a bit quiet. First, I was in a bit of a whirlwind in getting ready to participate for the first time in person at the Toronto Outdoor Art Fair. Then I was recovering from the Toronto Outdoor Art Fair. Now I’m just stuck into getting back in the swing of things at the studio, working on various custom orders (more about this in the future!!), and getting ready for my next show.

Which is next weekend, as it happens! I will be a Guest Artist at the Beach Studio Tour.

There are 10 studios that will be open to the public for two days, with 13 artists. I’m pairing with the lovely Carolina Reis. I feel like we make a good pair, since I like to include elements of textile in my jewellery!

You can find the tour map here. If you’re around Toronto, come visit the East End and check out the awesome art!

Hope to see you there!
